British Pantomime plays are a form of musical comedy stage production, designed for family entertainment, and based on well-known fairy tales or children's stories. Pantos are known for their jokes, slapstick, and direct address to the audience, often including local references and interactive moments like singalongs.
In the Sleeping Beauty Panto, expect the basic story of Princess Aurora's curse and her 100-year sleep, but with added comedy, songs, local jokes, and sometimes featuring modern twists. Expect dazzling costumes, sets, and choreography, with the aim of creating a vibrant and entertaining experience for all ages.
Zendora the witch takes her revenge for being excluded from a royal christening, by casting a wicked spell on the baby Princess, that will see her die on her eighteenth birthday by pricking her finger on a spinning wheel.
Aurora’s parents do everything they can to prevent Zendora’s wicked curse from coming to pass, but as predicted the Princess pricks her finger and appears dead to the world. But Fairy Slumber intervenes and puts her to sleep for one hundred years instead.
Will the Princess have to endure a hundred-year sleep or will true love step in and save the day.

Dame Thyme: A poor farmer. It's tough raising beets and a son all on your own! The Dame is the comic relief and the link between the audience and the show. If you are quick witted & good a making little improved jokes with the audience, this is the part for you! (Played by a male 18+)
(Dialogue on 22 pages)
Princess Aurora: The Sleeping Beauty. She is our princess who is excited for her 18th Birthday Party, but is not happy that her parents never let her go anywhere or do anything. Why are they so worried...especially today? But she has a plan to get out of the castle and blend in with the villagers before her party. (Played by a female 16-25 years old)
(Dialogue on 17 pages, featured singer)
King Rolo: A monarch. The father of Princess Aurora and ruler of Slumberland, even if he seems to never know what is going on around him. (Played by a male 25+)
(Dialogue on 17 pages, featured singer)
Queen Bounty: A monarch. The mother of Princess Aurora and true ruler of Slumberland because she always has to keep track of everything in the castle. (Played by a female 25+)
(Dialogue on 17 pages, featured singer)
Valet: The royal dresser. The *TRUE* ruler of Slumberland because they are the one that make the King look fabulous. Without a fabulous looking King, is there really a kingdom? And King Rolo needs all the help he can get. (Played by male or female 18+)
(Dialogue on 20 pages)
Cynthia: Royal lady-in-waiting. Princess Aurora’s best friend and the one who has to make sure she stays out of trouble. She’s like an older sister and auntie all rolled into one person. Wherever Aurora goes, Cynthia is right there with her. (Played by a female 18+)
(Dialogue on 10 pages)
Felix: The village macho man and Dame Thyme’s obsession. He’s a good friend to Justin, but always has to watch out for his mom, she can be aggressive! (Played by a male 25+)
(Dialogue on 21 pages)
Zendora: An evil witch! The baddie of our show. The only goal that Zendora has is to destroy Slumberland and destroy all that is good, including that precious Princess Aurora! (Played by Female or Male 18+)

Sage & Onion: The comic villains. These are two characters, but they are always together. Brothers that are new to town and desperately trying to earn some money. They will do anything to get a paycheck and team up with the evil Zendora to do her bidding. However, they are a few sandwiches short of a picnic, so things never seem to go right. *These characters will have lots of room to ad-lib and play off of each other. (Played by Male or Female 16+)
(Dialogue on 20 pages)
Walter: The village idiot. Think “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” type of idiot. Someone who has spent a bit too much time out in the sun. Walter gives us a lot of our one liner jokes throughout the show. (Played by a male 16+)

Salt & Pepper: Two cooks that have a very funny scene in the castle kitchen. They are only these characters in one scene so they will be doubled up as other parts during the rest of the show. (Played by male or female 16+)
